Abstract

Introduction. Patient satisfaction is the most developed aspect in the quality warranty programs of the radiology departments. According to the report “Health Services users claims, Castilla y Leon 2018”, radiology departments were the ones with a higher number of complaints. The objective was to identify the degree of satisfaction that a patient receives when attending the radiology departments to perform a conventional radiological study. Then, identify the significant differences among the different facilities in the Burgos Health Area

Methodology. A quantitative, descriptive, comparative and cross-referenced study was done in the conventional radiology departments in two facilities: Hospital Universitario de Burgos (HUBU) y Hospital Santiago Apóstol de Miranda de Ebro (MIRANDA). The sampling framework was the list of patients that received conventional radiology tests in 2017.

Results. 62% of all surveyed patients indicated to be really satisfied with the service received. 91% indicated that the diagnostic radiographers demonstrated a high professional competency. The overall assessment of the care received in HUBU was 57% versus 67% in Miranda (p=0.006). In Burgos access to the facility responses were 33% positive versus 57% in Miranda.

Conclusion. In global terms the quality received by the radiology patients is higher in the Miranda Hospital than in HUBU. This study allows us to identify possible areas for improvement in the infrastructure of both hospitals.
