Abstract

Introduction: Networks are vehicles that facilitate the exchange of knowledge, information and experiences that contribute to national and international technical cooperation in different thematic áreas. The International Network of Nursing in Child Health (ENSI Network) was set up in 2006. Membership of the Network is made up of individual professionals, institutions and organizations. As of 2017, there are 1,770 members throughout America, Portugal and Spain.

Objective: The aim of this article is to show the ENSI Network as a model of collaboration and research in Nursing. Development: Over these past 11 years, ENSI has been involved in several multi-centre projects, book publishing and it has published more than 27 articles in national and international reviews. It has also participated in national and international events on nursing and other disciplines. In Spain, the National Network began its activity in 2011. Its aims include making the situation and tendencies of nursing in children’s health more visible, promoting the production and intensive use of scientific-technical information and a framework of references on children's health. It participates in multi-centre projects and contributes to scientific production.

Conclusions: Networks are based on a collaborative activity of great potential. This strategy of work and collaboration that nurses have known how to manage for some time can contribute to the promotion of health and improvement in the quality of life of the population.
