Abstract

In León University Hospital, one ventricular assist device used byo keep patients hemodynamically stable during situations of advanced heart failure and severe ventricular dysfunction is Impella® . This article purpose is laying the foundations of its use for nurses who would use it during their professional life. Models and common approaches of care and setup of patients will be stablished in order to ensure their clinical and hemodynamic stability as well as detect and minimise secondary complications caused by its use. In addition, we will explain how this device is handled, before, during and after its implantation.
