I belong to that generation of nursing students who experienced the profession as unique and special, who suffered, felt and endured. I am one of those who stayed up until three o'clock (when practice ended at two o'clock) because a patient was given a cervical halo in neurosurgery or I went down to X-ray with a critical patient with a cerebral haemorrhage or because a colleague who was on rotation in the emergency room told me there was a cardiac arrest.
Daniel Fernández García

Its head had already said it in our magazine "Tiempos de Enfermería y Salud", "MORE NURSING, MORE HEALTH". And although it has been repeated in many forums, we wanted to insist on it with the slogan of our international congress, again in person, if the umpteenth pandemic wave allows it.
Luis Miguel Alonso Suárez

2023-02-132023-02-13412814EXPLORATORY SYSTEMATIC REVIEW ON NON-ACCIDENTAL INJURIES IN CHILDHOOD IN SPAIN
https://tiemposdeenfermeriaysalud.es/journal/article/view/131

Injuries are one of the leading causes of child death in the world, accounting for 40% of child deaths in highincome countries. In Europe, it is the leading cause of death in children and adolescents between 5 and 19 years of age. The aim has been to carry out a review of the literature with the purpose of updating the information available on the prevalence of injuries and accidents in the child population, in the national territory. The databases have been consulted: Cochrane, Pubmed, CINAHL, Cuiden, Lilacs with a time limit of 10 years and texts in Spanish and English. In addition, both the latest Spanish National Health Survey (ENSE), as well as the websites of the Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare and the different Health Councils have been explored. The information available on the portals of the main Scientific Societies in the pediatric field was reviewed. The most up-to-date information comes from official sources (ENSE). A decrease has been observed in the last 15 years, although accidents continue to be one of the most important causes of infant mortality and morbidity in Spain. Some aspects are proposed to consider since the ignorance of the prevalence and of the factors associated with injuries and accidents in childhood, hinders the development and implementation of strategies for their prevention: unification of accident typologies and age groups, enhance the visibility by official bodies, carry out studies that show more global and updated information.
Mª Dolores Navarrete ZampañaMª Luisa Díez MartínezGonzalo Albarrán MedranoMª Carmen Sellán Soto

2023-02-132023-02-134123847EXPLORATORY SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF PREVALENCE OF ASTHMA AND ALLERGY IN CHILD AND ADOLESCENT SPANISH POPULATION
https://tiemposdeenfermeriaysalud.es/journal/article/view/130

The most prevalent diseases in childhood in Spain are asthma and allergy, according to the 2017 National Health Survey. The aim was to carry out a review of the current literature to evaluate the articles in which, at least one of its objectives, studied the prevalence of allergy and asthma in the child and adolescent population in Spain. Material and methods. A bibliographic search was carried out in different databases. In addition, a search was carried out in the pages of the Departments of Health, Health Services of each Autonomous Community and in the Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare. The pages of other Organizations were consulted, such as: Global Initiative for asthma or the World Health Organization, among others. Results. They showed great heterogeneity in terms of prevalences, due to the different diagnostic criteria used, the age studied and the Community. There were very few articles related to allergy prevalence values and these ranged from 34-40%. More studies related to the prevalence of asthma were found, where the values were very disparate, ranging from 4.02% to 42.80%. There are very few articles that study the prevalence of asthma in Spanish children and adolescents, which makes it difficult to obtain reliable prevalence data. There are gaps in knowledge about the prevalence of allergy and asthma, although it could be stated that these are two prevalent diseases in childhood and adolescence in Spain. It would be necessary to continue documenting studies to increase knowledge in this population group. It is noteworthy that the decrease in the opacity of future studies, with respect to that existing in current studies, would facilitate their replication or the comparison of the data they present.
Mª Julia Ajejas BazánRodrigo Serrano VillegasAna Utrilla RojoAna Ramos CruzAna Castro GarcíaMª Luisa Díaz MartínezMª Carmen Sellán Soto

https://tiemposdeenfermeriaysalud.es/journal/article/view/132

Inflammatory Bowel Disease comprises a bundle of chronic pathologies that are characterised by inflammation throughout the digestive tract, it currently has no known definitive cure even though it affects a more significant population every day. Most strategies for its treatment focus on reducing inflammation, as small molecules and biological drugs do. There are other complementary therapies such as fecal microbiota transplantation, stem cell transplantation, selective granulocyte and monocyte apheresis, nutritional management and certain surgical interventions that can be carried out at the same time as traditional medicine or when its objectives are not achieved. These therapies use different mechanisms and contribute to the relief of the symptoms or even modify the course of the disease itself.
Marina Blanco PaniaguaRubén Martínez Gutiérrez

https://tiemposdeenfermeriaysalud.es/journal/article/view/127

Introduction. Prematurity has become a major health problem. As a consequence of the anatomical and/or functional immaturity of preterm newborns, their hospitalization can be prolonged for weeks or months after birth. In order to reduce admission periods, early discharge and home care programs have been established to place preterm or low birth weight newborns as early as possible at home, providing the most suitable setting to ensure its normal progress and psycho-affective benefits.

Objective. To determine if early discharge with home support in clinically stable preterm newborns influences weight gain rate, maternal-filial adaptation and breastfeeding adherence and maintenance, as well as reducing costs and days of hospital admission and readmission. Design, setting and participants A low-intervention randomized clinical trial will be developed that including preterm or low birth weight infants admitted to neonatology unit of University Hospital of León for the research time.

Intervention. Early discharge and neonatal home hospitalization with monitoring patient clinical evolution and parental care through regular home visits, telecare and presential transfer to primary care team at medical discharge.

Main outcome measure. The primary outcome will be similar weight gain, keeping stable physiological parameters, during home hospitalization compared to clinical hospitalization.
Beatriz Ordás Campos

2023-02-132023-02-134121527COMPASSION FATIGUE AND COMPASSION SATISFACTION IN ONCOLOGY NURSING STAFF: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW
https://tiemposdeenfermeriaysalud.es/journal/article/view/128

Introduction. Oncology nursing professionals’ quality of life can be in danger when working with oncology patients due to the high physical and emotional demands they are subjected to. These professionals are more likely to present compassion fatigue, a negative dimension of care delivery. For this reason, it is essential to know the protective and favorable factors, in order to create effective coping strategies that promote compassion satisfaction, a positive dimension of the nurse-atient relationship. That said, the main objective was to analyze how compassion fatigue and compassion satisfaction influence the quality of life of oncology nursing staff.

Methodology. A bibliographic review was carried out with a systematic methodology of the scientific literature using the PRISMA statement as a reference. The search was carried out in the PubMed, Google scholar, Medline and Scielo databases.

Results and discussion. 14 articles that met the inclusion criteria were selected. In general, all studies reported low-average levels of compassion fatigue and highaverage levels of compassion satisfaction. In addition, they agree that there are factors, such as neuroticism, that promote the development of compassion fatigue, and others, such as resilience, that stimulate compassion satisfaction. Likewise, some studies suggested coping strategies such as mindfulness to improve oncology nursing professionals’ quality of life.

Conclusions. Oncology nursing professionals need to have the resources to deal with the physical and emotional demands of working with oncology patients. Therefore, it is essential to invest in the implementation of effective coping strategies.
Fátima Fraguas MiguélezRaquel Fraguas MiguélezJesús Antonio Fernández Fernández
